The long-awaited Demon Slayer movie is finally coming to theaters in America! Here’s everything we know about the release date, ticket information, and more.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is a Japanese anime television series based on the manga series of the same name by Koyoharu Gotōge. The series follows Tanjiro Kamado, a young boy who became a demon slayer after his family was slaughtered by demons. The series aired in Japan from April 6 to September 28, 2019, consisting of 26 episodes.
An animated film titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train was released in Japan on October 16, 2020. The film topped the Japanese box office for two weeks in a row, and has grossed over $150 million worldwide.
No official announcement has been made regarding the release of the Demon Slayer movie in America. However, based on the release schedule of the anime series and previous anime movies, it is possible that the movie will be released in America sometime in 2021.
The film was originally set to be released in Japan on October 16, 2020, but was delayed to March 25, 2021, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The film will be released in North America by Funimation on April 23, 2021.
Theatrical release in other countries includes:
-Australia and New Zealand: Madman Entertainment has licensed the film and it is set to premiere in both countries on April 22, 2021.
-United Kingdom: Anime Limited has licensed the film and it is set to premiere on April 23, 2021.
-Germany: peppermint anime has licensed the film for a theatrical release in Germany on April 22, 2021.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train will have its home release in Japan on Blu-ray and DVD sometime in Spring 2021. At the time of writing, an official date has not yet been announced.
The film had a theatrical release in Japan on October 16, 2020. There is currently no word on when or if the movie will be coming to theaters in the United States. However, given that the franchise is incredibly popular Stateside, it’s likely that plans for a release are already in the works.

The film has been generally well-received by critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an 80% approval rating, based on 10 reviews with an average rating of 7.5/10. On Metacritic, the film has a score of 73 out of 100, based on 4 reviews, indicating “generally favorable reviews”.
The movie was very successful in Japan, both commercially and critically. It grossed over $100 million in Japan in its first week, setting a new record for an animated film. The movie was also very well-received by critics, with many praising its animation and story.
The movie has not yet been released in America, but is scheduled to be released on October 16th, 2020.

On October 28, 2020, the film won the Best Animated Feature Film at the 52nd New York Film Festival.

The Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train anime film will premiere in Japan on October 16, 2020. Eighteen days later on November 3, an English-dubbed version of the film will screen in more than 1,400 U.S. theaters for one day only as part of Fathom Events’ Anime Movie Night series.
The demon train arc is the middle story arc of Koyoharu Gotōge’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga series. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado and his friends as they board the Mugen Train to look for his sister Nezuko and their father, who have mysteriously disappeared. The train arc was adapted into the anime’s first season, which aired for 26 episodes from April to September 2019 on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block in Japan.
The Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train anime film will open in Japan on October 16 after being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The sequel will be set immediately after the events of the first season and follow Tanjiro and his friends as they board the Mugen Train in search of his sister Nezuko and their father.
